Zvolen is a pleasant town - neither large nor small. Neighbours from Banska Bystrica call us "bryndziari". Instead of sheep cheese bryndza, wood has been processed here for years, and therefore many of our graduates stay in Zvolen forever.
Zvolen is marked in textbooks as a important traffic crossing. It's really true! Accessibility of the town is excellent from all over Slovakia, whether by bus, train or car. (Nine kilometres from the city is even Sliač airport.) Moreover, the railway and bus station is located in the immediate vicinity of the University building and dormitories.
Zvolen is not a large city, so any place is within a walking distance. You can go also by by bus, or by bicycle, even if you do not own anyone. We mean shared bicycles of the TUZVO Cycloclub, which are parked at the dormitories and on the main square. The terrain in the city is easy, the traffic is easy to handle and the cycle routes are expanding.
The town is alive. In summer, for example, you can relax in the town's living room directly on the square. The Fun Zone, one of the largest in Slovakia, has good prices, books in the library, piano and refreshing water mist. You can play basketball or enjoy watching movies in the evening. In winter, Fun Zone changes to skating-rink for free.
The culture and sport deficit can be complemented by countless events, which can also be found here: https://zv-podujatia.com/najblizsie-podujatia-vo-zvolene-a-okoli/.
You will definitely do yourself an overview of clubs, bars, cafes, pubs, pizzerias and restaurants in the town.
